Description

August 17, the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics were coming to the end. The performance of China Olympic Team became a hot topic of public discussion in China, with special focus on occasions where Chinese athletes missed the gold medals, e.g. failure in the competition for the first gold medal, and the unexpected defeat in China’s strong areas like gymnastics and shooting. So, for the Chinese people, do the gold medals still matter? Who have benefited from the gold medals? How do the Chinese media and netizen view the athletes who have and haven’t won a gold medal? Who really cares about the Olympic gold medals? Based on our huge data from 530 million users at that time, Toutiao offers you a snapshot of Chinese people’s “Olympic gold medal complex”.
