Despite our best efforts, data still is not front of mind in the newsroom. Journalists tend to think about data too late into working on a piece, and often they don't know the most reliable data sources. Our project seeks to put data at the fingertips of the reporter writing the story, while they are writing it. As a proof of councept, it will recognise the places a person is writing about and provide relevant data from a variety of sources to the writer within their writing environment. The data to be made available will include figures in text, live-feed graphics and dynamic, interactive maps.
