Lava Jato Connections

DescriptionThe project is basically a list that gathers information about more than 160 defendants of Lava Jato, the Federal Police investigation of the biggest corruption scheme of Brazil's history. One can type the name of a specific defendant to access his file. That file contains the charges, as well as what the prosecution and the defense says about the case, and also other basic information, such as who's the defendant and what is the status of his trial - if he was already convicted or not. It is also possible to see the connections between him and the others defendants. If the defendant is involved in more than one scheme, you're able to know what exactly he's being charged with in each case. This page is constantly updated because the operation's still happening. So new defendants may joy that list.
What makes this project innovative? What was its impact? This project is innovative because it gathers in one single page informations about all the defendants. Brazilian media usually displays articles about one or two defendants at a time because the Lava Jato Operation is very big and involves dozens of companies and all sorts of people - CEOs, lobbyists, common workers etc. On the other hand, "Lava Jato Conections" gathers this enormous group of people in one page and shows how everyone's linked. It is also innovative because it gathers all the defendants' defenses. Unfortunately, in Brazil it is common to publish articles about criminal cases presenting only what the person is being charged with, without the defense and the presumption of innocence. So this a unique and complete project.
