The most recalled foods in Canada and Quebec over the past two years
Organisation: Montreal Gazette (Canada)

DescriptionFood recalls are a part of life in Canada. Every month, the media reports on several products that were recalled due to harmful bacteria, undeclared allergens, or the presence of foreign matter. I scraped two years of recall warnings from federal and provincial inspection agencies to see the patterns: what are the most common types of recalls? For what reason? What companies get recalled the most? When do most recalls happen?
What makes this project innovative? What was its impact? This kind of analysis was never done with food recall stories before. The media reports on recalls as they happen, but never on long-term trends.
Technologies used for this project:Python to scrape the recall websites. Excel to crunch the data. Infoactive.co to visualize it.
