Description

A survey was carried out by the Indian National Bar Association (INBA) across BPOs, IT sector offices and at various educational institutes, hospitals and legal firms. The results show that 38 per cent women/girls had faced sexual harassment at workplace. Of these, 68.9 per cent said they refrained from making a complaint due to fear, embarrassment and lack of confidence. Of the 6,047 people who participated in the survey, 78 per cent were female and 22 per cent male. Only 526 cases of sexual harassment of women at workplace were reported in 2014, of which only 57 were reported at office premises. This sheds light on the blaring gap that exists, to even identify and report sexual harassment at workplace, let alone address it. PoSH @work is an interactive questionnaire designed to tackle the issue of sexual harassment at workplace in India. It places the user in five distinct situations to test their knowledge of what situations can be categorized as sexual harassment at workplace in line with the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act 2013. The Act is not gender neutral and provides protection only to women employees. The final call to action to this interactive questionnaire not only makes the user aware of the law but also encourages them to sign a petition for the inclusion of all genders under the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act 2013. This interactive webpage can be embedded by corporate offices and newsrooms aiming to create awareness among employees about the Prevention of Sexual Harassment at Workplace Act 2013.
