Publication Date: 04/07/2015
DescriptionMy project is about scavengers kids who at the age of getting education forced to indulge in child labor because of abject poverty in Pakistan. These little child laborers despite wishing to go to school carry the scavengers sacks on their feeble shoulders instead of schoolbags. The self-employed little scavengers share the financial burden with their families. However, the profession take its toll on little scavengers health and they can catch HIV/AIDS, Hepatitis, skin and other diseases. According to the Environment Protection Department of Punjab, some 5.2 million people, including four million children, die each year from waste-related diseases in Pakistan.”
