Battle of the Tweets

Battle of the Tweets

Organisation: The Straits Times - Singapore Press Holdings Ltd (Singapore)

Publication Date: 04/08/2017

So, who do you think attacks their opponents more on Twitter? You might be surprised by the answer – just like we were. This graphic aims to give an overview of each of the main Presidential candidates’ campaigns since the beginning of the primaries – covering the scandals that have hurt both sides – and how this played out on the Twitter platform. It uses a repository of Twitter data that has already been sorted into categories by the University of Syracuse, their academic effort aimed to help the media with their coverage of the US elections. We briefly explain their overall attacking style, provide an overview of the other categories of tweets, display their most retweeted tweets and then we go into a scandal-by-scandal overview while showing their poll averages at the time.
