'Fingerprints of election thieves' in past PH elections data
Organisation: Rappler (Philippines)
Publication Date: 04/07/2017
DescriptionRappler examined indications of possible cheating in the last 2 automated elections using transmitted election results data, made available by the Commission on Elections (Comelec). We patterned our investigation to the technique of a group of researchers from the Santa Fe Institute, who used statistics to detect irregularities in election results. Our probe revealed that indications of cheating were evident in the fingerprints for the provinces of Maguindanao and Lanao del Sur in the Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, which has a history of chaotic conduct of elections.
